The Adrenaline Vault
As much as the graphics make the world seem to be alive, the sounds allow you to hear it as well. Even the ambient sounds are impressive, from echoing caverns to the chatter of a lively jungle. The voice acting can be oddly accentuated in places, due to over-acting perhaps, but is laudable in its presentation. But, the real oomph behind the sound FX is in the fighting. Blasts of rippling energy, swords smashing into armor, arrows sinking into flesh; all this is brought to life with impressive auditory zeal.

Dungeon Siege 2 has an excellent audio department that really shines in its special effects. The music isn't awe inspiring by any means, but the clings and clangs all sound perfect and are always right on cue. Just moving throughout the game, fighting the battles, and engaging in ordinary tasks sounds excellent, improving the overall quality of the game.

In addition to the scenery, the sound goes a long way in enhancing the atmosphere in Dungeon Siege II. The sound effects are consistently enjoyable, and although you hear battle noise almost constantly in the game, it manages to avoid sounding canned. Sound: 8 out of 10.

On the audio side, it's pretty much what you'd expect to find: yelp, thuds, and thwacks, driven along by propulsive bongo beats. Sound 3.5 out of 5

The game's sound is solid, with nice voice-acting work and a good musical score. Sound: 8.0

There is a lot going on in DS2, even when you're just in town buying and selling goods. The audio is consistently good and fresh, from the background ambient sounds, to those of battle, to the soundtrack and voices.

What you'll notice next is the sound, which is quite good. If nothing else good could be said about this game, it would be the excellent audio cues. For example, there are several classes of gear that enemies will drop, and one class is the armor and weapon sets, a la Diablo II. The set pieces will make a dramatic thump when they hit the ground, alerting you immediately to a potentially awesome piece of loot you'll want to check out ASAP.
Sound: 8 out of 10. Excellent audio cues and variation.

Console Gold Sound/Music - 95/100
The music and sound effects are very well done, and they are used for effect in many situations. Each spell or weapon has a unique sound, which adds to the graphic detail mentioned above. During the walk through the initial trenches you will hear battles taking place in the background as nearby explosions and arrows whizzing by your head are to the forefront. It gives the game a sense of space, and sometimes alerts you to what is around the corner. The sound effects, in addition to each one's uniqueness, fit what it is actually tied to. Nature's Rain AOE heal spell for instance, sounds like rain or snow falling on the ground. The whoosh and crackle of the Combat Mage's fire spells sound like a flamethrower going off, and the crossbow sounds so real you'd swear it was actually made of wood instead of 0's and 1's.

Graphics and audio have also been upgraded since the original. Spell effects and especially Hero Powers are nicely animated, and your party is decked out accurately in whatever armour and weapons they are equipped with currently. The sound effects and the voiceovers are also very well done. The powerful spells have enough bass to get the "oomph" factor in, and the voice actors generally do a good job of portraying the many characters in the game. I particularly liked the ambient sounds in the game. The jungle lives and breathes with insect and animal noises; the caves are deathly silent except for the echoes of dripping water and your party's footsteps.

Game Method
Fortunately, Dungeon Siege II isn’t hard on the eyes and ears; both visually and aurally, the game is quite outstanding.
